The State government of Telangana established the Telangana 2BHK housing scheme, popularly known as the "Dignity Housing Scheme," in 2015 to meet the housing needs of the impoverished sectors of society. The Telangana Government, led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, proposed a residential project for the underprivileged sector of society in 2015 under the name Telangana 2BHK housing scheme, following in the footsteps of the Central Government's cheap housing project. Under the Telangana 2BHK housing scheme, only families below the poverty line (BPL) living in kaccha houses/huts or rented properties are eligible for free homes. Percentage of Reservation in the 2 BHK housing scheme
Candidates with impairments can only apply for 5% of these units. In metropolitan areas, there is a reservation of 17% for SCs, 6% for STs, 11% for minorities, and the remaining 65% for others. Minorities only receive 7% of the housing units in rural areas, with 50% going to SCs and STs. The remaining 43% is available to other people.
Total Units Covered under the 2BHK Scheme with a Price Range
According to a memo from the principal secretary of the government to the managing director of the Telangana State Housing Corporation, a few of the areas where construction has not yet started on many units are Alampur, Gadwal, Devarakadra, Jadcheria, Mahbubnagar, Achampet, Kollapur, Nagarkurnool, Makthal, and Naryanpet. This information was provided as of July 2020. However, despite administrative penalties, 9,953 units have yet to begin. In the meantime, the government has approved 1,500 extra homes for Wanaparthy Assembly Constituency and 856 additional homes for Balkonda Constituency in Nizamabad District for 2020.

The GHMC is now preparing to use tunnel form construction technology, allowing a 10-story building to be finished in less time than typical. The Keesara Mandal's Rampally village, where 6,240 units must be constructed on 41 acres, will be the initial testing ground for this technology.
According to K Suresh Kumar, an officer on special duty for the GHMC, one story can be built utilizing the new technology in 30 to 40 hours. This is the first time a government program is considering such technology.

Due to the state government's consideration of the building of vital infrastructure, the cost of the entire unit is greater (including infrastructure).
